GWAR Frontman Interviewed At Denmark's COPENHELL (Video)
July 20, 2011Diskant.dk conducted an interview with GWAR frontman Oderus Urungus when the band performed at this year's edition of Copenhell festival in Copenhagen, Denmark on June 18, 2011. You can now watch the chat below. Also available is performance footage from the event.
As previously reported, the second annual GWAR-B-Q has been pushed back to September 17 from the previously announced August 27. It will be held at Hadad's Water Park in Richmond, Virginia. The standard ticket price will be $20, with "all kinds of cool extras and discounts." This year, for the very first time, GWAR is playing its own GWAR-B-Q.
Metal Blade Records recently released the vinyl versions of GWAR's "Lust and Space" and "Bloody Pit of Horror" albums.
GWAR's new album, "Bloody Pit Of Horror", sold around 2,800 copies in the United States in its first week of release. The band's previous CD, "Lust In Space", opened with 5,000 units to debut at position No. 96 on The Billboard 200 chart.
Oderus Urungus stated about "Bloody Pit Of Horror", "This record is a throwback to an age when bands actually gave a shit about their fans and released albums pretty much once a year. When a 'new album' was actually a series of original compositions instead of a bunch of regurgitated remixes. And the title, though stolen, is an homage to a time when horror films were made with style and care, not driven by corporation whoredom and CG trickery. It is a hateful attack upon all things alive."
Fangoria worked with GWAR on the video for "Zombies, March!". The clip was shot in Richmond, Virginia with Fangoria's own David McKendry.
